Summer Pathways: Summer Pathways is a seven-day residential program that gives young women the opportunity to discover the infinite possibilities that await them in scientific fields. Participants live in a BU dormitory, visit museums, industry, and research labs, as well as learn about careers in science and engineering and meet women working in these fields. A combination of field trips, hands-on activities, and a taste of college life makes Summer Pathways a unique educational experience.

Dana Farber CURE Program: The CURE program introduces high school and college students from underrepresented populations to the world of cancer research by placing them in real research settings at local cancer research institutions. By participating in a program at DF/HCC, students will learn from experts who are devoted to preventing, treating and curing cancer. Each year, a number of promising students are selected for this unique opportunity to expand and extend their interest in basic, clinical, or population science cancer research or nursing research.
The Forsyth Institute Educational Outreach Program (EOP) was created in 1993 to provide students with exposure to the exciting and rewarding world of scientific research. The program is intended to promote and encourage scientific careers and success in scientific research by young people. It provides opportunities for high school students from socio-economic backgrounds or population groups under-represented in the sciences to work side-by-side in the laboratory with world-renowned scientists engaged in cutting edge research.
The EOP includes an eight-week paid internship for Boston Public High School Students. The program pairs students with Forsyth researchers as mentors. Over the summer, the interns learn basic laboratory techniques and participate in ongoing research projects. At the end of the program, students present scientific posters describing their findings. Students may continue working on their projects during the academic year.
Student interns spend the summer in a productive and enriching environment. For these underrepresented youth, the Forsyth Program not only is often their first "real" job, but also may be their first step toward a future career path filled with challenges and achievements.

Initiated under the auspices of Design Initiative in Youth - Career Discovery Summer Program, Project Link is an intensive four-week program that seeks to immerse rising Boston area high school sophomores, juniors and seniors into the world of design. Students will be exposed to drawing, modeling and representation techniques associated with architectural design as well as to the alternate design perspectives of landscape architecture, urban planning, graphic and industrial design, and the fine arts. Project Link strives to foster design skills and put students on track for exploring these ideas at the collegiate level. By exposing students to the possibilities of design, Project Link hopes to instill a passion for design in local communities.

The MIT Saturday Engineering Enrichment and Discovery (SEED) Academy program is a free, academic enrichment and career exploration program held on MIT's campus.
The program provides students, who have a strong academic record and interest in science and engineering, with an interesting, hands-on curriculum that increases their mastery of academic subjects and strengthens their understanding of the practical application of math and science concepts. Students will also discover new academic and professional opportunities and gain exposure to a college environment.
Each semester, of the seven-semester program, will focus on one of the following engineering themes: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aeronautics/Astronautics, Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Synthetic Biology/Biological Engineering.
Students are admitted into SEED Academy in their freshman and sophomore years of high school. Class sizes vary each year, but average approximately 25 students.

The MIT Science of Baseball Program (MSBP) is a summer program provided free of charge to talented boys who attend public school in Boston or Cambridge and who have a love for math, science and baseball.
|MITES Program - MIT|
Through the MITES (Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science) program, OEOP offers three rigorous residential and online academic enrichment programs for promising high school juniors who are interested in studying and exploring careers in science and engineering. By submitting a MITES application, students are automatically considered for one of three academic enrichment opportunities: a one-week residential program, a six-week residential program, and a six-month online enrichment program. These programs include MITES, E2@MIT (Engineering Experience @ MIT), and MOSTEC (MIT Online Science, Technology, & Engineering Community). Through these programs, the OEOP is able to serve a larger number of selected students from the growing pool of MITES applicants (1750 applications in 2012). These national programs stress the value and reward of pursuing advanced technical degrees and careers while developing the skills necessary to achieve success in science and engineering. The programs are rooted in MIT's belief in the importance of students from diverse populations to pursue higher education and careers in these fields.

Girls try on different STEM-related identities and are given the space to explore their own development through multiple pathways.
|Smith College Summer Programs|
The Smith Summer Science and Engineering Program (SSEP) is a four-week residential program for exceptional young women with strong interests in science, engineering and medicine. Each July, select high school students from across the country and abroad come to Smith College to do hands-on research with Smith faculty in the life and physical sciences and in engineering.
Established in 1990, the SSEP annually serves more than 100 girls. Since its inception, nearly 1,800 high school students have participated, representing 46 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and 53 countries. After the program, participants return to high school better prepared to tackle tough science courses and understand what to expect in college.
Smith College is among the top-rated liberal arts colleges in the United States and one of the nation's largest colleges dedicated solely to the education of women. The Smith science faculty employs some of the finest researchers and teachers in the country. In 1999 Smith became the first women's college in the nation to establish its own program in engineering science, the Picker Engineering Program.
Central to the program is a learning environment that is rich in role models. SSEP offers hands-on, cooperative, investigative and challenging learning—where girls get all of the faculty's attention as well as the opportunities and encouragement to achieve their best. Smith undegraduate students with science majors also serve as teaching assistants.

The program at i2 Camp has been developed with the goal of engaging middle school children in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Partnering with some of the worlds leading STEM organizations, the camp broadens a child's exposure to STEM with a wide variety of new, innovative courses not seen in traditional middle school education. The fun and intimate, hands-on activities of the courses strive to excite and inspire campers about STEM, creating enthusiasm that will hopefully spill over to their schoolwork and school choices in future years.

The Summer Science Program (SSP) is a residential enrichment program in which gifted high school students from around the world complete a challenging, hands-on research project in celestial mechanics.
Technovation Challenge: High school girls (ages 13-18) become inventors, designers, builders, and entrepreneurs of technology, rather than simply consumers. Girls are guided through an online curriculum and work in teams of five as they develop mobile phone applications, “apps”. The teams are paired with a female mentor who guides them through the curriculum and acts as a positive female role model. February-April each year.
|Tufts University School of Medicine - TAHSS Program|
TAHSS is a community outreach program for high school students in the Greater Boston area. The program aims to stimulate and support interest in careers in the biomedical sciences among high school students. Selected high school students participate in a 7 week-long program, and spend up to 25 hours per week in various clinical and bench research positions throughout our Boston Health Sciences Campus. Students' experiences span the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nutrition, Sackler School of Biomedical Research and the Tufts Medical Center. Students complete an independent study and are expected to present their findings at the end of the seven-week program. In addition, students take a Gross Anatomy course taught by medical students, and gain through this course, both knowledge and exposure to graduate-level laboratory-based science.
TAHSS not only provides experiences in the research and clinical settings, but also exposure to role models and health career opportunities. Students also participate in group projects, including the design and production of the program's T-shirt and newsletter. Students may participate in additional activities on and off-campus, including field trips led by graduate students. Students have the opportunity throughout the program to develop a relationship with our medical and graduate student mentors.
The mentoring and support for students continue after the conclusion of the summer program. Our program office keeps in touch with students, informing them of conferences and other program opportunities. Students also receive information on the college application process and financial aid.

Through what we like to call “knowledge channelling”, students apply their new design skills to real community design needs with real clients to help improve their neighborhoods.During this paid internship, they develop life and job-readiness skills, build self-esteem, and serve their communities.
